The Guide To PROGRESS
This Guide To PROGRESS Special is an overview of the current talent, storylines and how our current roster came together over 23 Chapters in 2021 (104 to 126 inclusive), which were taped behind-closed-doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chapter 104 saw the commencement of the 7th Natural Progression Series with eight talent vying for tournament victory and a title shot. The main event saw a rematch from NPS 6 and how far the Champion, Cara Noir, and Challenger, Dan Moloney, had come. And we were off!
Debuts proved to be a big deal across the 23 chapters. In total 52 wrestlers stepped into the squared circle and 26 of these for the first time for a PROGRESS Chapter.
The likes of Danny Black, Alexxis Falcon, Kanji, Warren Banks, Man Like Dereiss, Big Guns Joe, Brendan White and Smokin’ Aces feel like part of the furniture now but all made their initial appearances at Theatre Peckham. This list wouldn’t be complete without the commentator turned star performer of Charles Crowley.
There were four new Champions crowned during the shows at Theatre Peckham, including Lykos Gym and Smokin' Aces. Both these teams made their PROGRESS tag team debuts during this period, and Smokin' Aces are the reigning tag team champions.
Cara Noir somehow managed to hold onto his belt despite coming close to losing it on several occasions. Those threats still seem very real, especially with the likes of Chris Ridgeway, Jody Fleisch, Dean Allmark and Gene Munny all still in the hunt. In the case of Chris Ridgeway that threat still feels very, very dangerous.
We witnessed arguably the best trio of matches in PROGRESS’s women’s division history between Kanji and Gisele Shaw which elevated a whole division, with no sign of slowing down since. Both have now added their names to the illustrious list of female PROGRESS champions such as Toni Storm, Jinny, Jordynne Grace and Meiko Satomura.
With the Revelations of Divine Love tournament introducing even more new female talent into the roster we are in good hands for the future.
With a live return imminent, immerse yourself in what got us to this point, whether you are watching for the first time or just revisiting what brought us here.
